The Dipalee Lounge has recently re-opened and we are so glad it has! It really is a great example of good honest Indian food. From the moment we walked in Gaz, the owner, made us feel welcome. The service was fabulous and the waiters very attentive. The overall atmosphere in the restaurant is great!
For the last three years Gaz has managed the Purple Mango Indian restaurant in Banbury. He won restaurant of the year in 2018 and Curry House of the year in 2017! The Dipalee Lounge has recently re-opened in Buckingham and has been tastefully decorated inside and out. After being turned into a thai restruant, the people of Buckingham are pleased to welcome back their beloved Dipalee Lounge Indian resturant! The Dipalee is a family run restaurant where 98% of the dishes are gluten free. There are specific vegan and children’s menus too and groups are always welcome.
Onto our food!
For starters we shared the King Prawn Suka which were king prawns cooked in a sweet and sour sauce. The prawns were big, juicy and so flavoursome. We also shared the most delicious crispy onion bhajis – Neil’s favourite! Our mains were fresh, pungent and bursting with authentic Indian flavours. We both went for dishes from the Dipalee Specials menu. Neil enjoyed the Dipalee naawabi which had tender pieces of chicken cooked in a shashlik and served in a delicious sauce. I had the Kybari Chicken, a dish cooked with garlic, green peppers and onion. It was a medium spiced dish with sweet flavours. I love anything with Garlic so this ticked a lot of boxes for me! We also shared a cheese and garlic naan full of buttery goodness along with fragrant pilau rice.
We were actually far too full to be able to manage a dessert. But they did look good! I also rather enjoyed the pink gin and tonics! Look I don’t get out much these days okay?! I wholeheartedly recommend that you visit the Dipalee Lounge immediately! It will not disappoint. We had a great time and we will certainly be going back and taking our friends. And if it’s your birthday, you will be treated like a King or a Queen!
